In the 1911 census he was aged 27, born Piddinghoe, Sussex, a River labourer, son of Phyllis Combs (a widow), resident Piddinghoe, near Lewes, Sussex.

In the 1891 census he was listed as Edward A Creaser, aged 5, born Doncaster, Yorkshire, son of Francis and Harriet Creaser, resident St Marys Road, Wheatley, Doncaster, Yorkshire & Yorkshire (West Riding). In the 1901 census he was aged 15, born Doncaster, Yorkshire, a Body Builder (Apprentice), son of Francis and Harriett Creaser, resident 15, Highfield Road, Wheatley, Doncaster, Yorkshire & Yorkshire (West Riding).
