Prisoner
of War
Thousands
of young men from the United Kingdom, Australia and
New Zealand were sent to Greece in 1941 to fight a
battle they had no chance of winning. Many were then
left behind and had to endure four long years as prisoners
of war. They survived this ordeal by a mixture of
fortitude, ingenuity and a certain sense of humour.
This site is a tribute to those men who were imprisoned
in Stalag 18A, Wolfsberg, Austria from 1941 to 1945

Brian
Kaighin lives in Durban South Africa. His speciality
is the Siege and Relief of Ladysmith and during the
14 years that he lived in Ladysmith he researched
the subject of the siege in depth. A 'by product'
of that research was the compilation of a list of
casualties commencing from the start of hostilities
to the lifting of the siege on 2nd march 1900. This
list of some 13000 names includes all the names that
he came across during the reading of hundreds of books,
dairies and letters and in the case of the deaths,
how they died/where they were buried/memorials and
much more information. If anyone is looking for information
on a relative he would be pleased to pass on what
he has.
