The memorial stands outside St Paul's Church, Ashby High Street, Ashby but was originally at the 'Ashby Turn' junction before being moved, and refurbished, in 1963 due to road development. The memorial takes the form of a Celtic Cross, a square marble pedestal and a decorated stone plinth all mounted on a three-stepped base. There are 63 names for World War 1 and none for World War 2. The memorial was dedicated by local clergymen and unveiled by Sir Berkeley Sheffield on 31st May 1925; the mason was Mr Harry Kitchinson.

The British Legion felt that the location at Ashby Turn was unsuitable for a war memorial being sited next to a public toilet, Memorial moved to its present site on Ashby High Street at St Paul's Church.
